Lego is not always the cheapest toy for your kid to be addicted to. Sometimes it feels like the sets are getting bigger and bigger, and my wallet does not appreciate that! However, there are still a bunch of pretty cool smaller sets that my kid loves that can be quick, impulse buys, or a nice little treat. So here’s three lego for less than $10 to get you started!
Every year Lego puts out a new little Star Wars Microfighter, and they are usually on sale for only a year or so, so act quickly! Last year, Mandalorian fans got to have a teeny tiny Razor Crest (to go along with the pretty big Razor Crest, and now the wildly expensive and detailed Razor Crest for adults that my son is sadly obsessed with and will never have), and this year, it’s Boba Fett’s Starship (it used to have another name – you can learn more here).
The microfighters are super fun because they are designed to mostly look like the ship in question, but also can fit a minifigure in there as well. We have collected a bunch of them over the years, including my favorites, the Y Wing, and Millenium Falcon.amzn_assoc_tracking_id = “fionacc-20”; amzn_assoc_ad_mode = “manual”; amzn_assoc_ad_type = “smart”; amzn_assoc_marketplace = “amazon”; amzn_assoc_region = “US”; amzn_assoc_design = “enhanced_links”; amzn_assoc_asins = “B08HVZYX76”; amzn_assoc_placement = “adunit”; amzn_assoc_linkid = “b66d6cd9f953f7e5e88fc9d3386d3264”; //z-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/onejs?MarketPlace=US
2. Lego Friends Mobile Bubble Tea Shop
If you stick around here long enough, you will learn about my deep love for Lego Friends. I think that the range has some much fun and creativity, and is actually among the best priced Lego out there. My son always loves building Lego Friends because they use really cool techniques and the colors are super fun. So my next pick for a set under $10 is the Mobile Bubble Tea Shop. My love for bubble tea runs really deep, so it’s possible I’ll just get this set for myself on my desk, but I will definitely be getting for my kids. It’s a super fun, cute build with interesting colors, and even a scooter for Lego people to go dashing about on!
3. Lego Creator 3-in-1 Dolphin and Turtle
Lego’s 3-in-1 sets are perhaps my favorite ever, and an absolutely fantastic place to start if you are unsure of what Lego to buy first, or if you are getting a gift for a kid. They are sets that are specifically designed to be able to be made and remade, and include instructions for three different builds. This not only ups the play factor, but encourages kids (and adults!!) to realize that the fun in Lego is not just following the instructions to make the exact thing, but to build and rebuild to make new and different creations. You’ll see 3-in-1 come up a lot on this page, as it’s probably the Lego that we buy the most. This little set is one that we’ve used on long flights, where I bought it randomly and threw it into my son’s backpack, and he was able to tinker away at it in the airport and on his flight. It’s a super cute ocean themed set that transforms from a dolphin and turtle to a seahorse, and to another little blue fish. It’s also great for little kids because it’s not super complex, and gets them excited about putting bricks together in new ways.
So you can see, there are a couple of really good options at a nice low price point – good for a quick small gift, a stocking filler, or just a nice introduction to Lego. Enjoy!
